Competition Authority takes municipal bus operation to court
Competition| Municipally owned Skelleftebuss obstructs private bus operators from participating in charter service markets according to the Swedish Competition Authority in court filings based on new regulations in the Swedish Competition Act. Private bus companies in the region have been waiting long for this action.

Commentary| The number of newly registered companies is growing fast in Sweden. And, one significant reason for this is the recent repeal of legal requirements for smaller companies to have certified audits. It is now high time to extend this exception to cover more companies, writes economist Anders Bornefalk, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise.

Low-wage kitty fails when levels are set by industrial sector unions
Collective bargaining 2011| The LO (Swedish Trade Union Confederation) recently presented their wage demands for this year’s collective bargaining rounds. Important among these where demands for a ‘low-wage kitty’ and limits to fixed period or temporary hiring. Anders Weihe, Chief Negotiator for Teknikföretagen (the Association of Swedish Engineering Industries), is critical to these proposals.
