Competition Authority takes municipal bus operation to court
Competition|
Municipally owned Skelleftebuss obstructs private bus operators from
participating in charter service markets according to the Swedish
Competition Authority in court filings based on new regulations in the
Swedish Competition Act. Private bus companies in the region have been
waiting long for this action.

Commentary|

significant reason for this is the recent repeal of legal requirements for
smaller companies to have certified audits. It is now high time to extend
this exception to cover more companies, writes economist Anders Bornefalk,
the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise.

Low-wage kitty fails when levels are set by industrial sector unions
Collective bargaining 2011|
The LO (Swedish Trade Union Confederation) recently presented their wage
demands for this year’s collective bargaining rounds. Important among these
where demands for a ‘low-wage kitty’ and limits to fixed period or temporary
hiring. Anders Weihe, Chief Negotiator for Teknikföretagen (the
Association of Swedish Engineering Industries), is critical to these
proposals.
