Increased red tape and costs for Swedish businesses after Brexit

22 % of Swedish firms trading with the UK has already experienced problems and another 12 % expect to do so. These are the major findings in a survey we recently conducted among Swedish firms trading with the UK.

All in all, 34 % of firms either have had problems or expect to get problems. For firms in the manufacturing sector this figures rises to 45 %. The most common problems mentioned by the firms were problems related to the erection of a new border, such as slower flow of goods and cumbersome customs formalities.

Though striking, it is likely that these figures are on the low side as they may only capture unexpected problems, not all trade barriers. Even more importantly, some trade barriers connected to diverging product regulations and new services markets regulations, will only materialise over time.
