Necessary actions to mitigate the Corona crisis

Swedish Enterprise has sent a position paper to EU-commissioners, Members of the European parliament and several others in order to bring the attention to the list of proposals you can find below.

Swedish Enterprise’s Anna Stellinger, Deputy Secretary General and Anders Edholm, International Director, Head of EU-office, sent a letter to EU-commissioners, members of the European parliament and several others.

Covid-19 is, above all, a health crisis. However, it is also a crisis for businesses and jobs. Tens of thousands of companies and their employees face a uniquely difficult situation, while the economy stands on the brink of a recession. Therefore, it is vital that we take rapid, effective steps to limit and constrain the wider economic impact and to support companies both within and outside the EU.

The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, representing 60,000 companies, fully supports the EU’s efforts to ensure the integrity and full functioning of the single market and that as much as possible of our trade with the rest of the world continues. A fragmented single market will destabilise and weaken companies, threatening jobs in both the short and long term. Furthermore, given the global value chains of companies, it is essential to favour international trade and - wherever possible - avoid any measures that may further complicate the movement of goods and services.

With this in mind, Swedish Enterprise’s Anna Stellinger, Deputy Secretary General and Anders Edholm, International Director, Head of EU-office, sent a position paper to EU-commissioners, Members of the European parliament and several others in order to bring the attention to the list of proposals you can find below. In this, some of the actions that we believe are required to help mitigate the ongoing crisis are highlighted.
