The most effective way to avoid additional burdens is often simply not to pursue new legislation and instead focus on improving practical implementation. Close dialogue with businesses is essential to ensure that EU lawmaking takes a strategic approach and delivers concrete solutions to identified problems.

A current example where such a strategic approach is warranted is the Shareholders Rights Directives. In a brief position paper, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise urges the European Commission to take a strategic approach and avoid revision initiatives that are not needed to strengthen competitiveness. The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise is committed to contribute in the process ahead.
