Mission for the next government - EU priorities for growth

Growth is a word heard far too rarely in the EU context. At the same time, the world is a more turbulent and challenging place than it has been for a long time. If the EU is to keep pace, it requires higher ambitions, shorter lead times and a clearer prioritisation of competitiveness and growth. When a new government takes office in Sweden in autumn 2026, growth must become the guiding principle for our EU engagement. Sweden's voice can make a difference. Today, competitiveness is an overarching goal for the European Commission, not least after Sweden’s EU presidency. Now it is high time that growth is given the same attention. For this reason, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, together with our member organisations, has developed five EU priorities for growth for the next government. We focus on areas where Sweden must take an active lead to ensure that EU policies strengthen global competitiveness and growth. We also highlight methods for co-operation with the business community.
